Mayapur Festival Shehnai Serenade
This is a late afternoon recording of the shehnai band in the Mayapur Chandrodaya Mandir compound during the 1975 Mayapur Vrindavan Festival. Recorded by Suhotra dasa and shared among devotees in Chicago at the time. Srila Prabhupada requested shehnai be played during the festivals and sound varied from meditative ragas to exhuburant and expressive melodies such as this recording. The video contains snapshots of Mayapur in 1975 with the gate under construction, roadways being laid, cottage industries in Srila Prabhupada's hut, the early stages of the goshala and the newly built prasadam hall where 10,000 people were fed daily.
